Do I have to be a company secretary?

Section 474 of the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) requires every company to appoint a local company secretary. The duties of the secretary include ensuring the integrity of all company documents and ensuring that all changes to the company are completed on time and correctly in accordance with local law. This position can be held by an individual or a corporation (body corporate).
